With the addition of the LX vehicles to the Chrysler vehicle line up, there were several changes to the electrical systems. Mainly with the style of communication between modules.
This course will cover the electrical system for the Dodge Magnum and LX body vehicles. Starting with the communications system in place, we will take a look at the CAN B, CAN C, CAN IHS and LIN busses. Then the overall architecture of the bus systems will be studied as well. We will demonstrate the best practices for diagnosing each bus system to allow the technician to feel comfortable with more in depth problems. We will look at some of the modules and features of the vehicle to help you understand proper operation as well as help diagnose problems quicker. The class applies to most Chrysler products.

In 2005, Chrysler and Dodge introduced the exciting new LX Platform that included the Chrysler 300, Dodge Magnum and Dodge Charger. Complete changes were made to the LX line-up including new body styles, communication systems, new emissions systems, the return of rear wheel drive, all wheel drive, new transmissions and of course the return of the famous HEMI engine.
This two part course will introduce you to many of the new systems and features of the LX line-up. This information will aid in diagnosis and repair of this popular new platform through good understanding of the new systems discussed. This material will be covered in two nights. Attendance in one course will not be a prerequisite for attendance in the other course.

When the new Dodge Caliber was introduced in 2007 it provided a list of challenges for the technicians. While some of the technical challenges are unique to the Caliber, also included are technical challenges you will encounter on other similar year Chrysler products. The only Automatic Transmission available for the Caliber was a CVT. This course will highlight the operation and some of the unique service features of this transmission.
The Caliber may have 20 controllers, which communicate on three different types of bus networks. This course will include the operational characteristics and diagnosis of the CAN B, CAN C, and LIN systems found on the Caliber as well as other current Chrysler products.
NOTE: This course contains New Electronic Systems, which is pointing to an electronic trend for most Chrysler vehicles.

The Dodge Caliber, Jeep Compass and Jeep Patriot were all introduced in 2007. These models came with a list of new features. The new World Engines offered three new four cylinder options. The new World Engines used a new controller called the Global Powertrain Engine Controller. The new PCM supported the new evap system. The Totally Integrated Power Module was just beginning to be widely used by all Chryslers and changed the electrical architecture drastically.
This course will help you understand and service new Chrysler vehicles. The World Engine section will even help you fix other manufactures vehicles that use the same World Engines.
Because of the vast number of changes to Chrysler in the past while, this course will have a related second part that covers more of the electrical changes and the new CVT.
